All the info here is just what’s currently present and speculation, and my own interpretation.
World
- Fun fact- this is an Alternate historical account of Greek myths
- Here, Eris (yes, the game’s name is the same) threw the golden apple, which started the Trojan War… Again, but into the mortal world instead.
- Currently, the only continent we have access to is Red Caye.
- According to the text, Hercules (whose Greek name is Heracles) kills Geryon.
- Now, the interesting part is that Eris, the goddess of chaos, turned this place into a central part of her domain.
- The reason the entire sky is red is due to some kind of red mist.
- And lastly, there is (will be) a way to escape the island. To escape, as the author states, he had to do something in the temple of Eris, and they escaped.
Speculation
- The temple of Eris can be 2 things: either the pantheon building thing with the beetles or the cultist temple on the big island.
- There might be some kind of trial we need to do to reach the next continent.
- The next continent, Uni,r is actually 2 different landmasses (at least for now,w according to the concept art of it.
Races
Ithacans
- Ithacans are related to the odysseus, and the original Ithacan basically fakes his lineage and says he is the son of Poseidon.
- Odysseus, after doing his Trojan horse plan, made Eris interested.
- As they were returning home, almost all of them died at the hands of the Lastrygonians.
- Eris saved a couple and forced them to be trapped there
- This and the rest of the lore give us a range of a time period of 1200 - 1300.
Speculation
- They were the first to be here on Red Caye.
- Those ithacans may be the NPCs we see on the island
Minotaurs
- The story mostly follows what happens in Theseus’s tale
- The OG minotaur’s name is Asterion
- After he was killed, there were groups in the east (opposite side of Red Caye) that sacrificed children to a god named Moloch (which is something that exists, actually and is slightly related to the minotaurs)
- The ruler of this tribe was taunted by Eris (professional rage-baiter), and he sent the beastly minotaurs to fight in Red Caye.
- But after reaching him, re the Minotaurs became rational and cut off their ties to Moloch and the tribes.
Speculation
- Theseus kills the OG minotaur in 1260. So the time period is even shorter.
- These guys might be the second race to land on Red Caye
Birbs
- Our progenitor was Hierax, a very kind dude (based) who worshipped dementer (not stated in the book, but it is a fact). And Poseidon didn’t like how based(I am completley un biased) he was.
- He flew to the sky to meet Dementor, except somehow met the apkallu (Mesopotamian sage people who are either bird-headed or mermaids)(in lore, they are bird-headed
- It’s stated that apkallu were guardians sealed by ashurnasirpal II within Nimrud (from my research, there isn’t much of a relation between them). There seems to be a small time skip here, as suddenly there are a bunch of u,s and we all got individually tricked into coming to Red Caye because we all were blinded by greed.
- Last para, we are all called stupid (David is racist against us birbs)
Speculation
- Now, the time period for this is hard to describe. The time when Hierax appeared is before even Troy existed (this means before the Ithacans and minotaurs). However, ashurasirpal II only ruled from 880 BCE til 850 BCE. And with the time skip in between, the time period theory of mine is fucked.
- Also, every other race currently got something good out of Eris’s deal. Ithacans lived, Minotaurs got rationality, but we birbs just get called stupid.
- Another important bit to notice here, Poseidon is somehow related to all three. Ithacan’s false lineage, Minotaurs’ birth originally causedby, Poseidon turning hierax into a birb.
- Now there isn’t any lore for this, but one time when I was talking to David in-game, he told me he might add some kind of monster to the ocean (along with fog of war) to prevent players from going to the edge. This monster could be related to poseidon to in some way. (if it isn’t, it’s a good idea, David)
Conclusion
I mostly made this for 3 reasons.
- I wanted to write about this for some time.
- Stole a part of Everics job.
- To call David racist against us birbs as usual.
But actually, the Lore is pretty interesting to read, like there are a bunch of references like Moloch and the apkallu, which show how much research went into the game’s lore. As we get more content, I will either continue to update it here or in the future wiki made by Zator.
