How Does Resistance Work?

Say you have 10% magic resistance. Is that a reduction of 10% damage,a 10% to negate all damage, or a 10% to negate an amount of damage? same for the other resistance types.

It’s a percentage damage reduction. So if you are attacked by 10 crushing damage and have 10% crushing resistance it will be reduced to 9 damage.

one more confusion while we are at it. sometimes we get items with +3 Crushing resistance along with +1 crushing resistance, or any kind of resistance for that matter. it means the net effect will be summation of those effects (+4 c resistance here) or smth else?

also, what does +3 mean? is that percentage?

There is a base resist bonus on light and heavy armor, I think 1% and 2% respectively, then you can also find a piece with bonus modifiers on it, which is why they are listed separately.

But yes, they are all percentages and are all added together to get the final result on your character sheet.

I’ve made a note to correct the tool tip so it displays as a percentage.
